Background Information In order to meet the growing needs of our membership and the local community, the Westward Ho! Tennis Club is seeking to relocate, expand and improve on its existing premises, providing a new first class indoor facility for the local community. The Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) ensuring both Accessibility and Affordability to all. CASC status also seeks to protect the assets of the Club, ensuring that there can be NO distribution of Assets to its members in perpetuity. Additionally, relocation would enable the club broaden its scope - the vision is to incorporate other racquet sports including squash, badminton and table tennis. In accordance with the PPG17 Planning Policy Requirements, provisions have been made to ensure continuity of sports facilities throughout the development period. To facilitate this, the Tennis Club has entered into a partnership with Newland Homes who have agreed terms under which there would be continuity of facilities Newland Homes were selected by the Club following a detailed review of their proven track record in Planning Design and Development. This project commenced in 2005 and subject to resolution of all outstanding issues is scheduled for completion around 2012. The Club with the support of both the LTA and TDC have completed a comprehensive feasibility study ensuring both the viability and sustainability of this initiative. It has the full support of its membership and a number of external groups. |
