The junior section at Westward Ho! Tennis Club consists of nearly 180 members. Saturday mornings are our main coaching sessions for the juniors run by Torridge School of Tennis. In the mini section we have 3 groups: red, orange and green. This is for younger children ranging from 4-11 with ability progressing through the groups. These sessions take place once a fortnight on a Saturday morning, with the older juniors having coaching on the other Saturdays and again takes place every fortnight. There are three groups with standard progressing throughout the groups. These sessions last an hour each. On Monday nights throughout the summer we have our junior evening from six until eight. Here the juniors can use all four courts to play doubles and singles depending on the numbers. When thought ready, the juniors may receive notification that they have been invited to join the senior club where they can play in the adult club nights on Tuesdays and Fridays. This section of the club also has its own junior committee made of some of the older juniors in the club. We organise tournaments for the juniors in the summer and also fun afternoons in the summer e.g. bbq's, beach games. The junior section has designed hoodies which can be personalised. The junior section has a great social side to it with a very easy going atmosphere. We are always looking to welcome new members. |
